Carolina Forest Civic Association

“Woody” aka Herman Wood is a native South Carolinian.  Raised in North Augusta, South Carolina, Woody’s birth certificate reads Augusta, Ga. as there was no hospital in the then tiny town of North Augusta.  Woody drove a school bus for the last 2 years of his schooling in North Augusta High School, as many of his 16-year-old school mates did.   After attending the University of South Carolina and an extended 4-year stint in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he started work with the Mosler Safe Company.  After successful supervision of the northern half of Florida, he became the Manager of Installation and Service in South Carolina. And was later promoted to Manager of Sales, Installation and Service for the state of Maryland where he met his wife, Joan.  

In Maryland, Woody became interested in politics and was elected by popular vote 3 times to the Baltimore County Central Committee serving the public for 12 years. In addition, Woody was a 4+ year participant in “Operation Welcome Home” greeting hundreds of Military Service personnel returning every week from overseas duty via Baltimore International Airport and has been awarded a Volunteer Service Certificate by the Governor of Maryland.  

Woody & Joan moved here to Carolina Forest in 2014 to enjoy the lower taxes, great weather and wonderful area of Carolina Forest.  

Woody served on the Carolina Forest Civic Association for a year, leaving to serve on his Property Owners Association Board of Directors at Covington Lake East.
