My name is Ann Cummings and I live in Berkshire.  I have owned a home with my husband here in Berkshire since 2008.  When covid arrived, I came here permanently with my daughter and her two children.  My husband and I are from the Boston area,  we have four children and four grandchildren.

I was elected to the Planning Board in Burlington, MA and retained my elected seat for 13 years until we moved into Boston.  Burlington is a town of about 35,000 residents and approximately 125,000 during the weekday.   As a planning board member we were able to keep the census within the 30-to-33,000 residents for those years, which was important to our town.   Our Board oversaw a great deal with its zoning, special permitting, site plans, and Section 6 (which had to do with grandfathering pieces of property) and many other unique aspects of planning.  I have a certificate as an urban planner and love watching good, healthy growth happen in a community.

I also was a working Mom and held jobs in different walks of life.  I was employed at the Southern District Court of Essex County in Probation and then in the Clerk's office.  From there I began working for a computer company; then moved onto working for a Traffic Consulting firm for 22 years.  This was where I found I had an interest and there was always something different and something new to learn.  This was home and I learned all aspects of evaluating, writing reports, mitigating impacts of shopping centers, developments, and about anything that would affect the neighborhood the project was trying to locate in.  At this position I learned about environmental impacts and how to really read and perform calculations on the impacts of different developments.   It was here I also learned about payroll, billings, QuickBooks, and a lot of other office management needs and property needs.  It was a smaller company, so we all wore different hats.  After that I went to work for Fidelity in their real estate department for ten years handling project management and so much more.

I am a Notary for Massachusetts and South Carolina.
