Atlantic Beach Memorial Day Bikefest Traffic Loop
Atlantic Beach Memorial Day Bikefest Traffic Loop
A 23-mile extended traffic loop will be in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Friday, Saturday
and Sunday, May 22-25, to keep traffic flowing and prevent gridlock. Again this loop is for only 4
hours each day.
Potential Impacts to the Carolina Forest Area
- During the traffic loop times only, River Oaks Boulevard will be closed at Waccamaw Boulevard, to prevent through traffic. Residents in the Carolina Forest area will need to access Hwy. 501 from either Carolina Forest Boulevard, Gardner Lacy Road or off of SC-31.
- During the traffic loop times only, all east bound traffic on Hwy. 501 going into the City of Myrtle Beach, will be forced to exit onto Hwy. 17 Bypass in either direction motorists choose.
- Individuals who choose to go into the loop will exit Robert Grissom Parkway to get back into the City of Myrtle Beach and will be forced to exit onto Hwy. 17 Bypass South only. Residents who are traveling on Robert Grissom Parkway during the loop times will also be forced to exit Hwy. 17 Bypass South as well.
- All locals are encouraged to use Hwy. 17 Bypass during the entire event rather than Hwy. 17 Business/Kings Highway, and Ocean Boulevard.
- If you are needing to travel to the Myrtle Beach International Airport during the loop times only, traffic must enter from Hwy. 17 Bypass North onto Harrelson Boulevard. Motorists leaving the Myrtle Beach International Airport during the loop times only, will turn right onto Harrelson Boulevard (opposite of the loop) and turn right onto Hwy. 17 Business/Kings Highway.
